Mercury 125

Featured Replies

i looked at a 1997 Procraft 17ft today at a dealer, everything looked good, it has a carburated mercury 125 on the back, it looks in good condition. Im not as familiar with the carburated version as i am the EFI, anything i should know about this motor? anybody have any experience with it?

I own a Procraft 175 with the 125 mercm and it will run around 55 mph on the speedo.

One thing that takes some getting used to is the motor runs on two of the cylinders untill around 1700 rpm's then the other two will kick in.

Other than that the merc is a sweet little runner and seems to be a good fit for this boat.

Hope this helps,

Bill

its a good motor.   my dad runs one on a 17 foot Alumacraft Deep V and it runs abot 52mph

One thing. when starting cold the motor has to be level or it will not start right. after it warms up then it will start tilted

Its a strong runner
