17ft Loweline Jon Boat Project

Featured Replies

Ok as im sure you all can guess i am new here. This is actually my first post. Well the reason i joined the forum is cause of my boat. While i was looking for infomation on decking it. Just let me say i have found much need info here and this is a great site. Now for my project.

17ft loweline Jon Boat

5.5ft beam

35 horse Evenrude

steering console

And what i did to was deck the front to the first bench seat(i left the bench seats in place) Giving me about a 8 foot casting deck. Plenty of room to walk around do what you gotta do.

The back deck is only 4 foot but i think that plenty big enough for the back. I am putting in new seats and new (used steering console). New floor in the center of the boat. I already have the front deck done for the most part. I didnt think to compensate for the carpet so i have to trim the hatch doors down a bit so they will shut. Also have to wire the lights up and fishfinder and see is i can fix my trolling motor.

It's a older motorguide lazer and i believe the foot control is messed up cause it worked fine than all of a sudden i went to use it day and the thing was on crack. I try to turn left it goes right than speeds up. i try to slow down an it turns off. I try to turn it back on and it goes on full blast knocking me out of the boat. So it is def on some kinda drug. i was told i can take the pedal apart and clean it up with some electrical cleaning spray.

I will post pics here as soon as i figure out how to.

Welcome to the site.  This is a great place to learn.  I have a 14.5 Loweline v-hull that i jsut deck out.   I did the same thing as you and just built right on to the seats.

Great to have you here and can't wait to see pics.
