Bass Migration - Lake Wildwood, CA

Featured Replies

I am newly retired to Northern California. Bass fishing is new to me up here. Every October, they lower our lake to dredge a finger of the lake where Deer Creek feeds silt into the lake from local rainstorms. It also allows residents time to work on their docks. They lower the lake about 6 feet every year. Two fingers of the lake (about 50% of the lake) are only about 6 feet deep, so 2/3 of the lake is dry including all the docks. 1/3 of the lake is about 25-50 ft. deep in the middle. After a couple of good rainstorms, the lake fills back up, this time in January, 2018. The lake filled up in 4 days this year (Jan. 21st). Water temperature is about 52 degrees. Will the bass move out of the deep areas in the winter to the shallows and docks? Should I give it some time before I fish the docks and these shallow areas? Days, weeks, months? Should I wait for spawning time? Should I fish the deep areas? All of the weeds in the shallow areas are dead. How long does it take for the weeds to repopulate? There is very little structure in the lake. Any opinions? Thanks.
