Fish sonar question

Featured Replies

Hey all, I was wondering. Some of you know about my 12' V hull jon boat. I was thinking of getting a fish finder/sonar for it. I've looked at different portable ones and I would like some feedback.

Of course my boat isn't decked out so it's open hulled. There's no way to install a trolling motor mounted fish finder. These were my two sonars I was thinking about getting...

Sonar 1:

Sonar 2:

I would like to hear what you guys think. Should I buy either one of these (and which one should I get?) or should I get something else? (suggest it/show it)

Thanks ;)

I have a hummingbird pirana max 220 for my jon boat, and for $100 it isn't bad.  It reads the depth pretty acurately.  It is not the portable version like you are looking at but I bought a trolling motor mounted transducer ($70 at bass pro shops) for it and it works fine.  If you have any other questions let me know.

I have the the fishin' buddy 4200. It is a great unit, It shows a lot of detail and works well. That until replace a fishin' Buddy II that I gave away. My buddy is still using it.
