Screwed up with some Cork Renew - help!

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I got some Kelly’s Cork Renew in the box yesterday that I wanted to use to protect the cork on some of my rods. So I started and put it on all my cork rods yesterday evening.

When I woke up this morning and I touched the dried end product I was a bit shocked. Yes, the cork is now protected like crazy but it is also super slippery. As soon is there is some moisture, liquid on the rod becomes almost impossible to grip.

What can I do? I was planning anyways to experience a bit with something like a Winn Grips Superior Rod Wrap Contour, since I have larger hands and most rods are a bit too thin for me in the grip area.

Other option would be to rough the surface up again with some sand paper.

Lesson learned for sure on this...

Thanks for your help!

Sorry I can't really help you out on this rod , but on the next one with cork use some U40 cork seal. Great stuff I use it on all my rods.
