Color Selection - Suggestions

Featured Replies

Just to give a little background I'm doing some research on some color combinations to try and use on some saltwater lures that I use. Attached are some images of fish caught with the saltwater baits my buddies have been using Thanks in advance for any info that will help me out.

Jake

PS: The lure is just at 6" in length

and the last image.

Hopefully you can kinda tell how the lure looks. It works pretty slow compared to most bass rigs. It sinks a little slower than a work with a 1/16oz. jig head and it's fairly weedless so far.  I'm still looking to improve it a little more for freshwater use.

the color doesn't have to be anywhat similar to the one in the pics, but just one that might work for the type of lure.  I can recreate almost any color pattern you can dream of pretty much. I'm a bit lost when it comes to freshwater colors, but what exactly is the gold shiner pattern? something like the attached image?

yep thats the one. i'd reccomend that or a shad (silver sides black back, black spot behind the eye). also you could attempt a bluegill pattern.

will do, this is a picture of fishing the same type lure back in December. I built it to be more of a saltwater lure geared towards trout but it seems to be working on quite a few species of fish.

btw, would this color be close enough to the gold shiner or would I need the sides to be a solid metallic gold?
