Just curious if anyone has one, and what complaints (if any) you've had?

Thanks.

Folding boat, folds into the size of a surfboard. Can be car topped easily. Takes outboard and all that good stuff. Lifetime warranty or 10 year warranty or something of the sort.

Never had one, only complaint would be the price  :o

Man, I don't know about that thing.   :o

If you bought some Banjo minnows and they didn't work you're only out the money for the lures.

The same if you bought one of those Roland Martin Bazooka rod and reels.

If you buy the Porta boat and it folds up on you in the middle of the lake, you could lose all your fishing gear.

There's gotta be a way that it can't fold up while fishing.  :-/

I've seen a few guys fishing from them before, and they don't seem too bad.

I was set on getting a 10ft Zodiac with wooden floorboards, but the thought of a hole in it sounds more common then the portabote folding up.

And as for the price, I've found some local for $700 or so.

I can't find a decent priced zodiac under $1000 that's bigger then 9ft and that'd be tough to fish with two people.

Lafayette reservoir! - No trailer policy. I'd also fish just the lower lake of Clear Lake with it most likely (Near Redbud and what not).

I reserched them last winter and seen one in action here the last month or so. I think that if I had the requirements as you I'd rather have a nice fishing kayak. I have a nicely setup 1548MV John right now but I have a Native Watercraft Ultimate 12 on my 2008 fishing budget to add to my fleet... http://www.nativewatercraft.com/

I fish with a partner, and I HATE sitting while fishing.

so it's a zodiac or portabote  :-/

I have a friend who has one and has enjoyed it.   We were on the Missouri river drifting for walleye but he couldn't get back up the river against the current with his trolling motor.  I threw him a rope to give him a tow back only to pull the nose of the boat under the water and swamp him.    Be careful wasn't as funny then as it is now.

They can take outboard motors, and yah, I think that it'd be nice to have, but as long as you're smart about it. I wouldn't fish places with a current at all without an outboard.

I decided to go with a 12ft Zodiac type inflatable boat. inflatable Vhull, Hard wood floor inserts, up to 30hp outboard, etc.

Thanks for the help guys.

All and all, the PortaBote just scared me a bit, and I heard they take a LONG time to fold and unfold. Inflating and deflating probably wont' be much quicker, but oh well!

You might be suprised. I inflate my small boat in a matter of minutes. Enjoy.

I am however looking into getting a small bass prowler next year.
