I have been struggling to keep a good rope on my trolling motor lately. The rope keeps breaking right at the metal grommet that I would think is supposed to keep it from fraying the rope. I have tried several different grades of braided rope and still no luck. So I was thinking of using a piece of coated cable to go from the release pin though the grommet and then attach a rope to the cable. Has anyone ever tried this or think it would be a good idea? I'll post some pics tonight of my handy work to see what you guys think.

I went to Lowes and got a short peice of plastic pipe that is used for sink faucets. I slid a short peice through the grommit and threaded the line through. Problem fixed.
