Fished my inflatable today. First time.

Featured Replies

After seeing LongMikes Sea Eagle 9 set up, I decided that the Sea Eagle was the way I wanted to go.  Bought a used SE8 with the Fishermans package which has floor boards and a motor mount and a rear seat deck.  Took my son out to our local small lake we fish all the time and the boat performed flawlessly.   My son is mentally handicapped and loves to go fishing so this was a big step for us to actually get out in a boat.  He did a great job of helping get the boat from the car to the lake and also in getting us launched and landed since he was in the front and had to shove off and hop out and pull the front of the boat up on land.  Caught a few small bass, but that was not the most important thing.  We had a great time our first time out and there will be many more.

Next time out I will make sure to bring an anchor.  The SE boat scoots through the water so nicely that any breeze will move you.  The boat is VERY stable.  You can easily stand and fish if you like.  I inflated the boat at home and we set it on top of my Ford Explorer and drove to the lake.  Two people can move it very easily.  IF you choose to inflate at the lake, that only takes about 15 mins.  VERY easy.  The boat can fit in the trunk of any car folded up and the flat floor boards take up very little space.

I am extremely happy with this inflatable!  Felt very safe in it.

32251, I'm very happy that I was able to provide useful information in your decision making process.  I'm doubly happy that your son enjoyed his first outing in the boat.  Moments like that are priceless.

You mentioned that you inflated your boat at home.  I keep my boat fully inflated.  It's suspended from the ceiling in my garage on a set of pullys.  When I'm ready to go fishing, I pull my Suburban up under the boat and simply drop the boat on the roof, tie it down, and I'm on the road.  Since I fish alone and am getting on in years, I discovered the hard way that getting the boat out of the lake and back on top of the Sub was almost more than I could handle.  The solution was another pully attached to the front cross-member of the luggage rack.  Now it's a piece of cake.

Thanks again LongMike!!  Very nice of you to share your valuable experience.  It was a great day for both of us.

Great to hear that your first trip out was a success.  It sounds like your son had a good time also.  My 4 year old is about ready to go on a canoe trip with me hopefully I will have as much luck as you with keeping him content.  I hope you took lots of pictures times like that shouldnt be forgot.
