Moving to NC or GA. Hows the fishing?

Featured Replies

Hey everyone, so as the title states i am going to be moving at the end of August and i am trying to figure out where i should head to. My long time buddy/roommate is getting married in July and is buying a house with his soon to be wife and the rising rents of south florida are slowly pricing me out of the area. So i was looking into moving to Macon, GA or Greensboro, NC since i have friends in each area that i could stay with until i am able to get a place. I was wondering how the fishing and other outdoor activities (camping, biking, hiking) are in those areas. I mainly bank bass fish (was thinking of getting a small jon boat or kayak once im settled). Any tips about the areas or advice is welcomed! Thanks in advance!

I live in Macon. Fishing here is really accessible, several lakes perfect for Jon boats or kayaks. Juliete, High Falls, Lucas to name a few. Also, some of the best bass lakes in Ga are in withen easy driving range, but you will need a bigger boat. Ocmulgee river can be fun too. Fishing here is a lot more challenging than south Florida.

The town itself is not bad, and we have more businesses coming in all the time bringing more jobs. A rare thing in Ga. And if you miss the big city, only a little over an hour to ATL.

I can't speak for NC
