Want to modify16ft tracker deck need help!!!!

Featured Replies

I have an old ('79) 16ft Tracker. The previuos owner did a butcher job on the decking and I would like to make some mods.I would like to bring the deck up to the rails if that is ok and would like to make some hatches to store plastic storage trays. I'm going to do front and back. I also would like to have a rod locker and have a 7' 6" swimbait rod, am I dreaming? I have no idea where to begin and what I need to keep in mind in taking on this project. I saw someone converting a Jon boat and saw how he had all of these vert pieces of wood. Also I saw someone mention a KABOOM factor abouy gas tank and batteries what do I need to know about this. I have 2 #27 batteries for a MG 67lb TM and a #24 for cranking.

ANY input would be appreciated as this is my first boat.

Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!!

Since we are not psychic (though there are a couple of guys on this board are psycho) you will get little information unless you are able to post a photo of your current boat and its decking.  Also, please provide a detailed list of what you wish to accomplish with your proposed mods.

Welcome to the forum. It was my repuild that you saw at the top. I hope it helps you out. If you have any questions feel free to ask. There are alot of guys on here that rebuild boats.

You have a 79 Tracker Hull. Man you can get some big bucks here in Georgia for that thing. That is the best hull for a rebuild.

Sence you are going to use it for a gas boat you just need to remember to make sure the back hatch is vented. Hopefully the previous owner didn't get rid of those two silver vents that are on the back of the boat. You shouldn't have to worry about that so long as it is vented and your wireing is well insulated.

Has the boat ever sat out in the weather for a long period of time?

Do the steering cables still work good?

How much money are you looking to spend on this rebuild?

With a complete redesign of the front deck there no reason why you shouldn't be able to have a long rod locker.

Like Long Mike said. Take a few pictures of the boat and post them so we can help you better.
