Ranger Boat Model Designations

Featured Replies

Can anyone explain to me or direct me to a site that explains the Ranger bass boat designations?  VS, VX, Z-Series, Comanche, Model numbers beginning with 1, 2, 3, 4, 5....is there any logic behind these designations?  Are the hull designs, except for length, the same?

Thanks,

Buick

One of the "big" differences is the width and length of the front and back decks, the placement of storage compartments and their lock mechanisms, and things like that. For example my buddy has a z20 and the sales guy was trying to talk him into the z520 because the front deck was 6 inches longer than the deck on his z20 and the back deck was 4 inches wider, it is things like that. Also just check the Ranger page and it seems like they are starting to keep things simple, they have the z19-z22, and the smaller boats are now just considered vx's.

The Commanche and R series boats are considered entry level Rangers.  Fewer options, color choices but the starting prices are less.

All the rest are merely their topline boats with differences in hull design and layout.

Boat model numbers or line names, regardless of brand, has never been an absolute where anything really meant anything in particular.

Depends on what year boat you are talking about.

As a general rule - Model/length
