Minnows and Bass

Featured Replies

Are minnows no good for bass fishing? Everybody tells me to fish a minnow 4 feet under a bobber for crappie, but nobody ever says use a minnow for bass.

If they ARE good for bass, what's the best technique?

Thanks

Live minnows might be arguably the best bait for bass, real or artificial.

I don't think I've seen any mention of minnows for bass on this forum. Curious.

Yea big creek chubs , and fathead minnows. I only do this with guests who oppose artificial. I have used small 3-4" sunfish before as well.  But not my preferred way to fish.

I honestly think aritificial is the way to go, because you can cover so much more water so many different ways... I have too many lures not to be using them when targeting bass lol

Try a light jig

Flylining live minnows in junior high was how I started bass fishing.  Stick on on a hook and toss it out, wait for the limp line to suddenly shoot out/straighten out, and set the hook.  Was the closest thing to a guaranteed fish next to dough bait for bluegills!
