floating worms

Featured Replies

what techniques are used for floating worms as a top water bait?

I use a trick worm because I can use it on top but can also let it sink into holes or use it like a senko.  I use    12lb mono w/ a 3/0 Gamakatsu offset worm hook.  I thread the worm on the hook about 3/4 of an inch or an inch when i rig it. I think it gives the worm much better action.

I usually use a cadence of twitch twitch twitch pause (3-5 seconds) twitch twitch pause (8-10 seconds), or on days when the fish are really aggressive i will skip the long pauses and just let it hang for a second or two.

I use colors like sherbert, white, bubblegum, and lime worms. but in very clear water ill switch to a green pumpkin chart. tail.

Throw these around any cover that you can find as well as to banks or docks.

I hope this helps,

Shawn
