Sandy Lake, Ontario in the Kawarthas

Featured Replies

I'm gonna be visiting Sandy Lake ON (near Buckhorn Lake) located in the Kawarthas near Lakehurst.

Has anybody ever done any fishing here in the summer months? I'm going mid July and will be going inshore and offshore. Any good spots to check out? I looked at a satellite map on Google earth and saw a few points but other than this I don't have much to go by. Anything in particular I should be looking at on the map? I don't have any fish finding electronics. Any help would be appreciated.

Sandy isn't the best lake to fish.  But if that's the only lake you will have access to, just go to where the weeds are and either fish along the edge or go into the thick middle and use a weedless hook setup to get your bait to the bottom.

Thanks for the link.

We ended up getting some pretty decent fish actually! Huge bluegill and good sized Smallies. Unfortunately no pickerel. We trolled with bottom bouncers with no luck. We tried a pickerel rig and worms which had most success. Tubes, cranks and a jig with a craw trailer also worked well.
