Trolling motor batteries and On-board charging system

Featured Replies

Ok all, I'm sure this has been posted a thousand times on here, but I just want everyones opinions.  I just bought my first bass boat and I am trying to figure out what kind of batteries to buy for my trolling motor and what on-board charging system to use.  Weight is a small issue due to the boat being a jet drive and the batteries will be more toward the front of the boat.  I just don't know anything about them!  I have a minn kota maxxum 70lb 24 volt trolling motor.  I would like to keep it moderately priced, however if I have to go expensive I will.

Thanks everyone

2 of the big Everstart Maxx Marine batteries, I think 29 or 27 series, whatever the biggest one they make is. I can honestly say they have never left me standed. And I have fished a good amount of 10-12 hour days with some gusty winds. Things just wont die! Great warranty too. At $65, best around imo.

ditto on the everstart. I bought 3  two years ago and they never let me down. also if they do no matter where and when, there is always a Walmart close by and always open.  That is why I have them my other 3 died after a tournament and the store where the were from was not open till the next late moring. that ment no boat. I bought the new ones at walwart at 4 am right befor boat check. I run the 29's on a 36 volt TM

as far bas your onboard charger i recommend a guest charger they have the best customer service by far and the product is outstanding
