Tatula Elite vs. Original Tatula

Featured Replies

I currently have a 7’2 H Tatula Rod I use for my heavy jigs when fishing structure, but I was looking to get a MH for when I’m fishing in shallower areas. I wasn’t sure if there were any advantages to the new Tatula line or if the original Tatula would be be way to go? Please advise

I haven't used a Tatula elite, but the one thing I will note is that most of the Tatula elite's run around $280 and I've never seen them for less, where I can find a Tatula for $110-120 on Amazon at the right time which is hard to beat, and in my target price range.

Tatula Elites are $179 and can be had for less. The AGS rods are $279. They'll be on sale July 4th, I'd imagine.

Oh okay so the AGS rods are $280 (I was half interested in the drop shot rod although I think M/F would be a bit stiff so I didn't go that way). However, I have yet to see one discounted. Disregard that then.

There's several on ebay for $215-$240.

I see mostly heavy rods with AGS for under $270 (didn't even look at shipping), so wasn't what I was searching for.

I havent messed with the regular or elite rods, but one thing i dont think i'd like as much on the elites is the reel seat. The original tat rods appear to have a seat similar to the 1st gen zillion rods, and the elites look like the seats used on the cronos & old ballistic rods. I have a 6'9 mh ballistic (killer spinnerbait rod that fishes more like a glass rod) and those seats are closer to an ecsm seat than normal daiwa seats. The normal daiwa seats like the air beam and old tds rods makes a reel feel much smaller than they do on the ecsm & acs seats.
