x96 or x67c ???

Featured Replies

Ok, this will be going up front. I have a color gps( gps only, no graph on it. i have a grayscale graph at the console too, but it reads at top speed, so I'm not taking it off) unit on my console, and initially wanted the x96 for the bow. But, I'm worried that I'm spoiled by the color unit, and should get the color one for the front too...

So, you guys that have experience with color versus grayscale graphs chime in. Thanks!

When I went last year to BPS to look to getting a new fish/depth finder, as I looked at talked to some local guys and the sales people.  A color one is a lot better then any grayscale one.  Even if the grayscale unit has more pixel or a bigger screen, the color unit will still give you a better view.  I have the Lowrance x67c and it has been great for me.  It is small but still big enough so see the things and details.  The x67c also has sonar features that you can pick between different screens like for ice fishing, night fishing, and some more.  My fav is the bottom tracking screen.  It gives you a better idea about the bottom and certain shades you can tell if it is a rocking bottom, sandy, and if you are going over brush or the bottom is actually changing.  I like it.

My opinion is go with a color one, because I've never heard anyone switching from a color to grayscale while just about everyone upgrades from grayscale to color.  But go to a local fishing store and see if they have any on display you can play with to see the difference.

very cool. thanks. I have been playing with both emulators I downloaded from the Lowrance site, and feature wise, they are identical. I think the color one would be far easier to read in a real world situation, especially at night, which is about the only time I can go during the summer.

I was leaning toward color, but needed a little "push." Thanks!
