Propeller hub

Featured Replies

i tried searching and havnt come up with much but,

i am looking to replace my prop on my 74 evinrude. i am sticking with the factory 13" dia, 19" pitch.

On iboats.com they have several but some come with a hub kit that must be installed in order to install the new prop. is this something that needs to be professionally done or can i do this? i am looking at the QL Aluminum Propeller for Johnson, Evinrude 70 HP 3 Cyl. Pleasure (Thru Hub Exhaust & 13 Tooth Spline).

Thanks,

Matt

I have a Hustler 15" pitch prop for my 1977 70HP Evinrude.  I believe it required a number 33 hub kit.  It is no problem to install.  I believe the hub kit requires no tools if I remember correctly.  The whole reason for the hub kit is......that they can make one propellor which is the big cost and make hub kits for specific brand which is the smaller cost.  Once you get the hub kit you only have to buy a new prop if you want to change sizes.  I hope this helps.

I have the hustler prop on my evinrude. they work well. The hub just slips into the prop and the whole unit goes on just like a regular prop. It can be tough to get apart after it has been on the motor for awhile. A good hit on the hub with the wooden handle of a hammer frees it up.
