Powerpro braided line.

Featured Replies

Hey all, I wanted to change from mono 12lb line to some braided i found 150 yrd of 30lb power pro spectra braided line. Do any of you guys use this braid and if so would this be good on my bait caster or any other recommendations

I use that brand on 2 of my setups. I have 30# on one and 65# on my frog/heavy cover set up. Its actually the only braid i have tried lol but its good stuff

Your welcome. When you spool it on make sure you use some mono for backing or use tape to tape the knot down to the spool. Braid doesnt stick to the spool well after it gets wet a few times.

Yeah thats the same stuff i have. You will be fine. Just make sure you use something for backing and spool it on tight. Im pretty sure glen make a video on how to spool braid on the bassresource youtube channel.

Ditto, except I use 50# on the frog combo. It's very good stuff. When you factor in how long it lasts and use some cheap backing line to fill the first half spool, it doesn't cost much more than mono.

Thats for sure got 150 yrd for 40lb for 13 dollars and free two day shipping cant beat that. that 150yrd should fill my bait caster right up for atleast a few months

If you use mono backing you wont need to spool all of it. I only use half of the braid and save the rest for later or another reel. For me it works out cuz i dont have to cast further then 40 yards or so and have some extra braid on the spool for retying different lures or whatever.

I can get three spoolings from a 150 yd spool. Here's another thrifty trick. When you get tired of seeing that faded out used end, you can spool it onto another reel and you'll be using the other end of it, which is new and still has the original color. The stuff doesn't wear out unless you fish around a lot of rocks.
