storing 2 piece rod

Featured Replies

So i just picked up a cheap 2 piece spinning rod to keep in my truck as a "truck rod" just in case i ever needed one. How would i store it in the truck? i put the hook on the hook keeper and broke it into 2 pieces but the line wont stay tight enough to keep the hook on the hooker keeper and kept getting tangled. it has 15 pound power pro braid on it. i was thinking of using a rubber band keep the pieces together? any ideas would be great thanks!

This is one of the downfalls of keeping a two piece rod rigged up sometimes. It can be downright frustrating and one reason I prefer one piece rods now.

When I do use my two piece rods, I usually keep them Texas rigged, hooked in the keeper, fold, then reel in the slack line. Just be sure to let out some line when you reassemble. I will use a case to store it in if I have stuff that may bang into the rod(s). Plano, flambeau, and various store brands work good enough.
