Just bought new revo sx what should I use it for?

Featured Replies

First post on here. My current setups include a 7ft MH mojo bass and a 6:1 tatula and a 6:1 Lews tourney pro g with 6'8" bass x  mh and a 7ft m crankin stick and 6:1 ardent reel. Tatula has braid and is used for spinnerbaits and topwaters and does worm and jigs right now and bass x is my fathers so hardly use it and just got crankbait rod. I don't punch or anything being from ohio and fishing portage lakes. What should i use it for and what rod and line for it. (7:1 left hand revosx)

Welcome to the forums, you could use the Revo SX in place of your father’s combo. You could also use it for topwater, jigs, frogs. The line and rod depends on what you want to use it for.

If you fish topwater a lot I would suggest getting a better rod for this application rather than using a 7’ MH. That rod is very versatile for single hook baits but not treble hook friendly.

I use an XH for topwaters, the fish don’t need their jaws. :roflmao:

Lol thanks for the advice so I’m leaning towards braid should I go with 50lb and a fluoro leader or just straight braid?

What are you planning to use the reel for? What techniques?

Not exactly sure probably Texas rigs, jigs, and frogs. I haven’t really used the bass x much. Still looking for an inexpensive rod more than likely heavy.

I’d use straight braid then you could try a leader if you wanted to compare but just use braid for frogs. What’s your price range for a rod?

The Daiwa DX LT is around that, Dobyns Fury or Colt, various Abu rods, another Bass X if you like it.
