12V Aerator Pump on 8V Battery?

Featured Replies

I just got a 12V Aerator I am going to use for cooler for shiners. I have an 8V battery in the garage before I go out and buy a 12V battery to use, is it okay to run this on an 8V battery? Any other suggestions? If I do get a 12V battery what would you guys recommend?

it would be better to get a small 12 volt battery.

if the 8 volt battery turns the pump it will overheat the motor and  fry the windings.

electric motors do not like to run under rated voltage.

something like this would work
