Newbie's first question...

Featured Replies

Hey guys i've been working on my jon boat for a while and have got done with building the deck. Now i've seen how people have put polurothene(however you spell it) on there wood. I found some in my shop but it says for interior use, Would this still work? What else could i use?

Actually, the best way to seal wood would be to use Epoxy resin.  It's pricier than polyurethane but more durable. Polyurethane for indoors won't work,  it's not meant for sustained exposure to moisture.

There is some stuff by min-wax called Helmsman urethane.   You can buy it at Walmart.  It's a urethane based finish specifically meant for outdoors use.  It's pretty tough stuff, is self leveling and will expand and contract with whatever it's attached to.

Welcome aboard.

First question and you have the guys stumped!!!!

I have no idea of what to use so I am absolutely no help.

But keep asking and sooner or later you will get your answer.

And send us a picture of the boat - both before and after.

Glad you are with us so just ask your questions and then go fishing.

P.S. Where is Louisville, Mississippi?

Northern or southern Mississippi?

I am from new Orleans and know the state, somewhat, but never heard of Louisville.

It's in central mississippi. South of starkville(Mississippi State University). I live 20 minutes from there

Starkville.

I have been to all but four SEC football stadiums and Starkville is on the list, along with Ole Miss, Arkansas and Florida.

Been to an Ole Miss game in Jackson, but that does not count.

You are in some fine country for bass fishing.  You have all of Mississippi and most of Louisiana so you can go all over the place and do very well.

Glad you are with us.

When times get tough, just get out that ole MSU cowbell and ring it a few times. ;D
