Minnkota Genesis

Featured Replies

I found a Minnkota Gensis, 74 lb thrust, 24 v, auto pilot not working, for $150.

Said that the motor is in good working condition.

Is it still a good deal and what's your take on the Gensis?

Need it for a 16 ft aluminum v-hull.

Those motors originally sold for around $1500-1600.  Had an automatic stow and deploy system.  Power drive motors.  A great idea by MK but the execution was, well...... uh terrible.  From guys in the TM repair industry, those things didn't last long before breaking.  Too many parts needing to synchronize for the motor to deploy or stow correctly.  A few bouncy trips down the lake and "snap", "crackle", "pop".

I'd keep looking.

I smell a rat. Be careful.
