Jon Boat to bass boat Price???

Featured Replies

I just noticed all the posts of ppl modding there jon boats into bass boats and it really looks like a fun project, me and a couple friends were thinking of building a boat from scratch (or trying too...lol) but now that i've seen these it seems more reasonable for us to buy a jon boat and mod it. So what i'm trying to get at is how much do u think it would cost roughly not gonna hold you to the cost lol, but how much it would cost to add a deck to the front section of the boat and to the back and to do the floors so they are flat, it would probably be a 12' boat, and also how much it would cost to paint it and if anyones done the carpeting how much that would be too. thanks guys,

Dave

i just finished my build and a had set a budget for roughly 300 dollars not including the boat with the carpet the grand total came out to be 350. i was moding a 16ft boat so my cost would probably be a little more than yours but there are some ballpark numbers. boatcarpetbuys.com has some really good deals on carpet with free shipping. hope this helps have fun i really enjoyed my project

for the carpet a average per yard is about 6 dollars(indoor\outdoor carpet). A sheet of plywood is about 25. I used aporxamately 2 and a half sheets and 15 foot of carpet. carpet only cost me 70 dollars and i actually got the wood for free but it would be around 65. I'm not sure about 2x4's the cost. but since you are only getting a 12 i would be careful on putting a deck. I would just put floors in it and a small deck(not to stand on) on the front for storage and a trolling motor "center". Before you buy your boat make sure it is what you want and what you would enjoy and be comfortable out of. If you have any questions during your build just PM me cause i actually just walked in the house from officialy finishing mine! lol

thanks guys i will be in touch when i get the money to buy the boat, and i will definately be modding it because thats not bad at all for the price especially since i'll be splitting it three ways with friends. Congrats on finishing tyler

mine was budgeted around the 450 range, but I chose aluminum support instead on my 1436. particularly I wouldn't choose aluminum support on a 12'

The real cost was the toys I got for it, That was not cheap and I got basics too(nothen fancy) ;)

I spent about $700 on my 12 footer.  That's including $300 for the boat/TM, new depth finder, battery, carpet, paint, and misc. screws and hinges and such.
