I started baitcasting with Abu Garcia reels on the advice of a hard core angling friend about 4 years ago.

 

Would like to hear the opinions of folks who use Abu baitcasters and have used both generations, on the relative improvements that have come with the newer Gen 4 models.

 

I have 2 revo sx’s. I really like the gen 3 but the gen 4 is considerably better than the 3 in terms of smoothness, and braking. And the bigger handle of the gen 4 is nice too!

I have both gen 3 and gen 4 premier baitcasters. They are both really nice reels. I would say my gen 4 is a bit smoother on the retrieve but can’t quantify it necessarily. 

 

One thing I can say for sure is that their customer service is class leading.  Multiple interactions and all have exceeded expectations.
