My basic question is at # test fluorocarbon can a superline hook come into play? 

 

I have become a big fan of superline EWG hooks in place of a straight shank flipping hook (that's another topic, for another time).  But, I've also found them effective in other applications, like increasing the fall rate on a weightless senko.  

 

So, thumbs up to the superline on straight braid or heavy fluoro, but has anyone experienced any issues with using a superline on lighter fluorocarbon, say 15# for weightless baits or Texas rigs?

 

As a bonus... Comment your favorite fluoro knot!

I use the Trokar TK130 for all bottom contact and swimming plastics with 16# Sniper and 20# Shooter flouro. 

I use the same hook for punching also. 

 

Flouro knot is a SDJ

I've become a fan of the TK120 after using Gamakatsu for years. Thanks for sharing your experience.  

I don’t use superline hooks unless I’m using 16# plus flouro and then it depends on technique and application.

My nephew has been doing very well on senkos rigged with like an 4/0-5/0 superline EWG fished on 10lb mono.  He is fishing them on a MH Loomis MBR and seems to have little issue getting the hook set.  My inclination is to use the thinnest, smallest hook I can get away with, but I can't argue with results.

Glad to hear he's been successful.  I prefer the fluoro for the fall rate.  Thanks for the success story!

I will say that while there are many ways to skin the "I want this senko to fall a little bit faster" cat, I am far more into crimping a tiny split shot on to a light wire hook then moving up to a heavy wire.  The split shots do fall off very easily, but for weightless plastics I really really want the best chance at a hookset, even if I have to worry a bit more about landing them.  

Once in a while I use the VMC Drop Dead weighted hook in 4/0, 1/16oz. The hook shanks is quite long, and the weight is placed just in front of the hook bend, which helps the bait fall level. I use 10lb flouro with no trouble. 

I use 15lb Invizx on mine and it works just fine.

I have used them to add weight to senkos on 10 lb FC without issue

 

SDJ is my preferred knot with FC with an improved uni close behind
