New spots in Amelia, Chesterfield, Midlothian

Featured Replies

Hey guys, I'm looking to find some new spots to fish in the outer Richmond area.  I'm in Chesterfield and have fished Swift Creek Reservoir quite a bit, but am looking to expand my horizons.  Hopefully y'all can help me out with some new spots.  I fish from boat and shore.  All input is greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Get the upcoming 2019 Freshwater Fishing in Virginia booklet and look at the places in the areas you listed. You can get a 2018 booklet at Dick's, BPS and Green Top which will have the same information as the 2019 will have in it.

Go to the Richmond Fishing Expo in January and speak with the vendors about places to fish.

Other places that may not be listed in the DG&IF booklet mentioned above include:

Pond behind the old Martin's shopping center at intersection of Buford and Huguenot Roads.

Southlake Road lake off Midlothian.

Watkins Landing on the Historic James River off Route 711.

Lake Chesdin.

Powhatan Lakes.

Amelia Wildlife Area off Genito Road in Powhatan.

Others will ring in their suggestions, too.

Check out the above places. Some are bank fishing, only.

Good luck.

Within an hour or so of Richmond there are a ton of places to fish.  Sam already mentioned some but then there is Disacund reservoir, Little week reservoir, al the various creeks around plus of course Sandy and Briery creek which is a little further away but well worth the drive.
