Im new to South florida, ive been fishing up and down orange drive, east to west and havent got a hit, can anyone let me know where great peacock bass spots are fishing from shore

Welcome to the forum. The C-14 canal and surrounding area has a very good population of peacock bass. There are bullseye snakeheads and other exotics in this canal system so you should have a good time fishing.

Look for culvert pipes, bridge pilings, anywhere there might be current.  These will create ambush point for peas.  Remember they like moving targets so keep it moving.

Thanks guys, im constantly fishing the c-11 canal (orange drive) all the West to hiatus, never have any luck, ive tried live shinners and mostly crank baits, no idea what im doing wrong. I have fished at veteran's park but didnt go west, will try the c14 canal asap

Fish close to shore, P's don't do deep or colder water than you can find in 2' of water. Get to Wally world and get some different colored wiggle tail lures, I use blue, black and yellow but if one color doesn't work in 30-40 minutes, change colors. You may have to do that all day because sometimes they just shut off to one color that was just working.

 

Until the sun is up and the water is warm you won't have much luck. They "may" take a lure early, but more likely than not they strike when the water is warmest.

 

Anyway, sometimes casting straight out from the bank with the lure dragged into shallow water works, but I catch most casting up and down the shoreline in the shallows. They will also take a lure dragged past their nose if they're nesting out of wanting to protect the nest more than hunger.

This weekend I caught a couple quality sized peacock bass while fishing in a canal system in Broward. I caught them on topwater poppers and would recommend you try topwaters and the other lures I mentioned earlier. You can catch peacock bass during a cold front (have caught several peacock bass over 5 pounds during the South Florida ''winter'') but it would be best to fish for them on warm days between cold fronts and even better fishing during the Spring, Summer, and Fall.

In Palmetto Bay there is a Shopping Center called “The Falls” it’s located at 8888 SW 136th St, Miami, FL 33176.

Basicly just south of the shopping center there is a dirt road and some green space. There are two gravel lined public boat launches down this dirt road and that whole bank is easily walkable. It’s a community area and it’s known but last time I was in Miami , they were stacked up in this canal on the ledges and the ramp washouts. Very easy to catch on 1/4 oz Chrome RattleTraps, and with polarized lenses you can sight fish for them. Size from 1lb. up to 4lb.
