Shimano Expride a 7’ light+ thoughts

Featured Replies

For those who fish it, what are your thoughts? Where does the rod shine? Is it more like a medium light or more like a light? I handled once in a local store and haven’t stopped thinking about why I need this rod lol! Fill me in please on your thoughts and what it excels at

I am curious about the rod also.

I know that rod. It's an excellent ned rig rod, but also great for any really light line finesse stuff. It would also be an excellent panfish/trout rod. It's pretty much how it's labeled, it's light plus a little more oomph but not much.

Well I don’t do a ton of panfish/trout fishing but chase perch for about a month before bass season opens once the ice gets off the lakes so I hoping to use the rod for perch for that month, then use it for bass the rest of the season. But all I can think that would be awesome on the rod is ned rigs. What other baits do you like on it?

Small mepps size 1 and 2, 07 and 09 Rapalas, small poppers, and mini crankbaits. Basically all small Lures.

Is it more of a moderate taper than a fast?

I know the 6'10" expride is more of a moderate than a fast to me.

Awesome thank you! I couldn’t help myself I ran out and picked it up! I think I’m really going like it! It balances really nicely with the stradic ci4+ that I pulled off another rod just to try. Just have to narrow down exactly which reel, another ci4+ or maybe try a daiwa this time

It definately feels more like a mod-fast.

The Tatula LT 2000 is a nice one. Enjoy your new rod!

Worth stepping up to ballistic for mag seal though?

Are you fishing saltwater? If so yes. If freshwater.. it's not necessary.

Nope. I would stick with the LT. Unless you are a saltwater fisherman too.

Have you been into the light plus rod?

Did you ever try another reel on it?
