Walther PPS M2

Recommended Posts

Palmetto State Armory has the PPS M2 at $267 right now. Really tempted to get one. Anyone owners here care to share pros and cons? Are they that much better than a Shield (current carry)?

I've owned a LE edition since back around the time they were released. I like it WAY better than my Shield. My Shield used to have issues going into battery, so that was one issue, but I like the PPS M2 much better in many aspects.

It eats anything I put through it and it's a very smooth shooter for its size. The quality is top notch. The grip is phenomenal. I also like that I can choose between a 6/7/8 round magazine. I can carry it with the small little 6 rounder in it for easier concealment, and then I can keep a spare 8 rounder on me in the event it's needed.

Dang that's a great deal! I own the original version, and did so specifically for the trigger guard magazine release as I am a lefty. I got mine for just about $400 or so which was a great deal at the time. I do not have a shield but have shot one, So I wont say too much about it. But I do prefer my PPS. My trigger has a firm stop an isn't mushy like most striker fired pistols are an I like that. It is heavy for my taste an shooting accurate but that is not what it is for. However it is a accurate pistol an I have ran quite a bite of ammo home rolled an factory through it an have had no issues.  I have Avg. hands an it fits me well. I concur with the previous statement of 6 rounder carrying an I have the 7 as a spare. Buy with confidence! Esp. at that price!

Appreciate the feedback Hopefully the deal sticks around. After talking with the Mrs she wanted something larger sized for easier recoil management and home protection. CDNN has the Walther Creed for $255 shipped. Pretty good reviews on it out there so hopefully it is not a lemon. Ordered one last night. Going to stick it out with the Shield a bit longer.

I'll probably post some thoughts on the Creed after a thousand rounds.

I also forgot to add my favorite part. The trigger on the PPS is nearly as good as the PPQ, which is highly touted as the best trigger on the market.

I see I am in the minority here, but I prefer my shield.  It's true the trigger is not as good, but can be remindeed simply.  I am just far more accurate and the platform fits.  I have yet to find rounds it doesn't  like, but I practice with what I chambered daily.  For me, pistols this size, it's about balance, carry position and how quickly you can get the 2nd round off.  That said, there is no mistake here.

Finally broke in the Walther PPS. Sweet little shooter and wasn't too shabby at 25 yards even. Put 200 FMJs and some Federal HST and Critical Defense without issue.

Keeping the Shield too I decided. I hated that gun when I first got it. Made a lot of excuses because of the trigger on it. Took lots of dry firing and going back to the fundamentals. It's been a solid performer with over 1k rounds and no issues. It eats steel, and aluminum no problem.  I guess I'll rotate them both in the EDC after a few hundred more through the PPS. Gotta see how steel and aluminum fare with it too.
