Does anyone own one of these? What do you think of it? I will be using it for fishing ponds and small lakes (places I can't put my bass boat in)? I am thinking about buying one (Adventure 14 foot) tonight that has built in fishing rod holders and padded seats with adjustable seat backs.

Here is the canoe I am buying tonight, I am getting a tan one for $399.

Congratulations on your purchase. I don't know anything about that particular canoe, but Mad River is a good name and if the boat meets your needs, such as for length, width, weight, and all the other canoe characteristics, then it will serve you very well.

I bought a canoe last year. There are more comfortable boats to fish from, but they can sure get you to where some good fish are.

Thanks Marty, I just brought the canoe home a little while ago, it's sweet.  I now have all of the waters covered around here.  I have my bass boat for the big lakes and rivers and I have the canoe for the small lakes and ponds.  Now I can thoroughly fish some smaller lakes and ponds that I know have hawgs in them.  This should open up a whole new aspect of fishing for me.

I love my canoe.  No bending over to lip a fish.  

I've got a Mad River "Explorer 16" that I've had for a few years. It's a great river canoe, but an absolute pig on the flatwater. It's slow, heavy, and the lack of a keel means that the slightest breeze will have you working your butt off to keep it going in a straight line.

The Adventure series might not handle as bad on the flatwater, but they're still pretty heavy for their length.

Stasher1, the Explorer 16 is a much wider canoe than the Adventure 14 so I can understand what you are saying.  I would not expect to have the same problem that you have in flat water.  I am hoping to go out later today so I will let you know how it handles on flat water.

Congrats on the purchase!  It looks nice and I'm sure it will get you where you need to go.  

AnglerNFuego (Andy) and I just got back from the canoe's maiden voyage. I must say I am really impressed with the performance. It goes really nice on flat water and it has comfortable padded seats with adjustable seat backs. This is by far one of the best investments for bass fishing that I have made.  Oh yeah I caught 4 lmbs while we were out, unfortunately nothing of size, most likely because we fished late morning and early afternoon with the high heat.
