I have some questions for the people here who use the Zoom Magnum fluke.

   1) Which size hook do you use?

   2) Which rig do you use for it? Weighted or not?

   3) Do you think it catches you bigger bass than the 5.25" size?

   4) Do you ever have a problem setting the hook, or getting the hook to come out of the body?

i occasionally throw the magnum fluke, if the baitfish are large. Personally I prefer the super fluke. 

depending on brand I use either a 5/0 or 6/0 EWG hook. I Texpose them, with the hook point laying along its back.

I have never had hook setting issues rigging it this way.

I have not had much success fishing it weightless like a super fluke. The Magnum fluke does not have as much action as a standard super fluke.

the fish I have caught with them were on a Carolina rig.

 

They might attract larger fish in certain situations.

My 2 largest bass where both caught on the standard super fluke.

  I fished the Magnum yesterday and today.  Everything you said was exactly spot on. That's a compliment to you, but not to the bait.  ?   jj

I have had the same experience.  They just don't have the nice, realistic looking shimmy like the Super Fluke.  I have only caught one fish on the Magnum in Smokin' Shad color.  Albeit, it was a nice 18" fish.

Magnum Caffeine Shad, unweighted or with 1/16. Softer, heavier, nice tail wag on the fall. 

The important question though, does it catch bigger fish? I have no idea. 

The little tip flick doesn't do much though... try a two foot yank and both it and the zoom will dance. 

 

 

I use 7/0 EWG hook, unweighted. I use magnum Fluke when fish deeper water than super Fluke. I fish like jig where I pop along the bottom most of the time. I also use when heavy vegetation and I want it to go under. I also use at night around rocky area.

Too bad this year I havent fish much if at all super Fluke and magnum Fluke. This year magnum Fluke and my fav color.

    If you fish it unweighted, how do you get it to go down?  BTW ... that's the color I bought, and that's the size hook I use.  I just wish I had results like yours!!!     ?    jj

Just wait and wait and wait with twist once in a while, depends on how deep. Where I caught the most last year was from deep drop off, once it’s on bottom I just pop it sometime fast sometime slow, but make sure it hug the bottom. I caught a bunch of 20 inchers last year.
