First time at Six Mile Waterworks.

Featured Replies

I recently had a chance to try my luck at Six Mile Waterworks. :) The rest of the week was focasted to be lousy, so I decided Monday 6/24 was going to be it.
It was supposed to be warmer later in the day.  That's why I went in the morning.  I got to Six Mile Waterworks shortly after the park opened.  I passed a few others fishing, so I went to find a spot further down.  I don't like to be crowded, so I do it to others.  I'm sure they didn't want to hear me cursing out the fish for not biting.  Likewise, me hearing them.  lol

So I took a spot at fishing platform near a bench, it was near the bathrooms.  Which makes it even better.  lol  I noticed next to the platform slide marks for kayaks.  I decided to tie on a spinner lizard.   After about 10-20 minutes with no luck.  So I switched to a spinner worm.

I decided to stick with that a bit longer.  When I changed I went with a standard artificial worm.  I was seeing fish starting to feed.  But no luck, even with a few flips near them.  It was starting to hotter and muggy for me.  So I started to pack up.  After about 2hrs+ I left with no bites.  I seen many small fish swimming near the shore.  There was also some perch feeding close, but no luck.

Plenty of other wildlife around, geese, squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits, etc.  While I was there a couple guys with USDA Wildlife Services showed up.  They put in a couple kayaks for quick paddle around.  I'm sure my outing would have been more productive if I could get out on the water.   The life of a shore fisherman.   lol

Anybody have some better spots to try here, lure preferences, etc?   I see a spot on the lake map I'd like to try.  Hows this spot?  Is it easy to get to?

I will be back with or without a kayak.  It's a nice location, easy to get to.   I just need to find my fishing rhythm for this lake.
