Lunkerhunt Yappa Frog

Featured Replies

Anybody ever use the Lunkerhunt Yappa frog? My buddy uses the yappa bug and kills it catching bass. Does it have good action and do you fish it the same as any other hollowed body frog?

Forgive me if I'm wrong but the curmudgeon in me says this sounds rather promotional for a first post :Idontknow:

In these days of paid influencers and guerrilla marketing, content isn't always what it appears.

It does sound awfully "go get a yappa".

I did buy one and fished it last week, the bug.

Gives me the eebie-jeebies every time I look at it, I hate those water bugs.  It's supposed to do a jitterbug-like wobble on retrieve, but I found it doesn't.  Maybe the soft lip deforms when it walks, messing it up.  It would dive, skitter across the top,and then proper wobble some.

If it did wobble reliably on a straight retrieve, I would like it more.  Since it doesn't, I give it a thumbs down due to the high cost and inconsistent action.  I'm happier throwing a pad crasher for now.

Okay, now I at least have to go check it out :laugh7:

I really just want to know about the lure, see if it is worth it to buy one...

Catch anything?

I caught one on it, when it was properly wobbling, but bass will hit anything roughly that size that floats though.  $9 steep when it doesn't wobble-retrieve as advertised consistently.

I bought the yappa mouse several months ago. I tied it on and it wouldn’t wobble right. The soft cup was deformed a little. I ended up putting it in a warm place for a week in the package and it straightened out. I tied it on 10# mono and it worked fine. I’ve used it several times now and it doesn’t work any better than a jitterbug. I don’t particularly care for it.
