hello,

My name is Liam Beach I’m 18yo and I’ve been bass fishing regularly for about 6 years now. I have plenty of things that I really want to try but at the top of the list is participating in a bass fishing tournament in my home state of Ohio. If anyone could help me and my fishing partner get started please let me know. We really just want to participate and get a feel for the sport, winning isn’t currently in our mindset.

     Thank you!

Look up the bass federation for Ohio. They should have a list of all BASS affiliated clubs in the state with contact info. I would say starting in a local club is a great way to go. Not to serious, usually doesn’t cost a ton to fish and you get introduced into tournament fishing. Go as a non boater learn from the boaters in the club and build your skill set. Then if you like it and are successful you can then look to fish state/regional tournaments.

Hope this helps. There are plenty of midwest guys on here hopefully they can chime in with some state specifics.

X2.  Swbass15 nailed it. Could have not been penned any better. A+!

There is a "link" on this page in the upper right hand corner called Links. (Pretty smart, huh?) Open it up and look up Ohio. Check for both the BASS and FLW federations and contact them for a listing of their bass clubs in your area.

Do as Swbass15 suggests plus learn where the ramps are located. Yes, sounds dumb but finding the ramp can be a challenge. So do some recon during the day and find the ramps prior to any tournaments and know how to get there. Use your GPS to get home, which can be a challenge, too.

Google both BASS and FLW Ohio Bass Federations and then contact each. I checked out the Ohio clubs listed under Bass Clubs and you can Google them to get their contact information as part of your research.

Good luck.
