Ok Guys got a good one here

Featured Replies

We have an 1989 anger 390v 200 merc black max 19.3 ft jack plate and all.

I'm a big guy when I fill both tanks and me and my team go fishing, it takes my partner to sit on the front deck to get the boat on plane.

I know the weight issue is that main thing we have figured I'm 270 my partner is 210 and the fuel is about 500 pounds.

Maybe more or less,

I have moved that jack plate from top to bottom and unless the fuel goes down we don't plane unless he sits on front deck.

I'm thinking one tank or split half and half to drop some weight, or is it just me not setting my jack plate right it is hyd, so I can move it all over the d**n place.

How is the motor running? What kind of RPM's are you running and what about water pressure. I'd try moving some weight (fishing tackle) around in the boat and start with the motor about 3" below pad and see what that would do. Slowly move the motor up alittle at a time, but watch the water pressure. Most people say to never let it get below 12-15psi. I would think that even with 2 people and a full tank of gas, that the 200 (if it is running strong) would get that boat on plane fairly easy.

the motor seems to be running great I get 6  thousand rpm's and once it gets up on plane look out it's supper smooth I will try to start with motor at 3 inches below skids

maybe I have been putting it to low I always thought go low at first then bring it up to get max speed I will try higher and go from there

I agree with surfer.  I would try a Hydrofoil.

You haven't said what pitch or prop you're running.

Check and see if the subfloor is full of water. Some of the older boats foam became waterloged and the substructure would carry a lot of extra weight from the water that accumulated over time. Just a thought, I have seen some that carried a lot.

I drove a boat with a hydro foil and it seem like it wanted to tilt the boat to adjust for motor torq. And if you were not care full it would porpoise

I raised my motor about 4 inches from where I thought would be a great start, and it seems to work better I will do more testing this week as I'm off from filming. So I will try adjusting  the hyd jack plate up a little at a time till it jumps out of the water. If not I will look into a different prop. the prop now is a stainless steel prop qicksilver 48 24 pitch 3 blades

Hydrofoil is cheaper than a new prop.  But it could be the prop.
