Bent Skeg

Featured Replies

Well, seems i should be buying a lottery ticket today.  Only piece of waterlogged wood on the river and I found it.  Unfourtunately when i hit the wood slab (which was submerged) it bent my skeg.  It is not severly bent, just put a smile in it.  I know i can put a skeg guard on it but was wondering if this is repairable without replacing the housing.  Any input would be appreciated.

Repairable by having it cut off and a new one welded on. It probably won't bother your handling much, if at all, but if it does you will need to have it done.

I cannot be straightened more than likely as it will probably snap off if it is attempted.

If you have a new one welded on than have the seals replaced in the lower unit as the heat needed may well ruin the seals.
