jon boat questions

Featured Replies

i'm wondering do u need to get a state license or what ever to own one? i've never owned a boat before but looking foward to buying one this spring. do u need insurance or state registration or anything of that sort to own one?

It depends on the State you live in. In NJ, any boat under 12ft does not need to be titled, but needs to be registered (there are other specifics, but this one is specific to your question). Check with your DMV or similar State agency.  Good luck with the boat purchase.

Check with your state. Here in New York boats have to be registered if they are propelled by mechanical power, which excludes most canoes, kayaks and rowboats.

in fla. you have to have it registered if its under any mechanical power. and in order to do that you have to have a title. even a canoe with a temp. trolling motor on it needs registration.
