I've been trying to answer this question on the Hook2 via google, but I am not have much luck.

 

Does the Hook2 have the ability to create contour maps? From what I can tell it is compatible with SonarChart Live, which requires an active Navionics subscription. However, the TI and HDS appear to use Genesis Live maps, which appear to be created without a Navionics. Genesis live is not available on the Hook2, correct?

 

Hummingbird allows mapping for free on their similar Helix model. I have not need for the Navionics subscription, but want the ability to create my own contours.

I have the Hook2 5" with Navionics.  The only way I have been able to get the Sonarchart Live to work and actually map the contour of a lake was if I had the Navionics card in AND charts set to Navionics.  Any other chart besides that, and the Sonarchart Live option disappears and I can't map contours.  It is not very user friendly.  I mapped a small lake last week, and to be honest, I don't know if it actually saved what I mapped.  I'll find out next time I am out there.
