VT Ice fishing for pike

Featured Replies

New to ice fishing and have been going after pike. Recently bought some tip ups and have been using shiners with minimal results. I know location of tip ups is important as well and have been trying to stay close to weed lines I know exist when the water is open. Are there any presentations to help increase the amount of hits throughout the day?

Thanks,

CPF

I find that pike often look up more than down in the winter, and most people set their baits way too close to bottom. Often I’ll set the baits in the top third of the water column, the minnow silhouettes against the ice fairly well, something to try maybe?

They get really shallow sometimes when hunting/feeding
