Removal of the spool on a reboot stx

Featured Replies

I saw a previous discussion regarding difficulty removing the spool on a revo stx. I’ve had the exact problem - the spool moves about a 1/16 of an inch and hangs up on something. I have cleaned one and the spool came right out but the next two had this problem. Anybody figure it out?

Maybe the bearing stuck inside the race? Some reels with bearing on the spool shaft might be a bit harder to pull out.

So do I just pull harder?  It’s so weird b/c with the first one I cleaned the spool fell right out. It had a short shaft on the internal side of the spool with a small pin that engages the pinion gear and I don’t see a connection with a bearing except on the outer shaft.

I guess, make sure the line is not caught in between the frame, make sure when you press thumb bar, spool move freely, loosen spool tension all the way and make sure spool can move in/out. If all these checked, the only thing that might cause spool stuck is bearing.

Now I’m not sure which STX you got and if any bearing on spool like my ALX.

Hey thanks for getting back to me. My spool looks just like that. You can see that small cross shaft which is engaged in the slot in the bottom of the pinion. The opposite side of the spool has a longer shaft the is inserted into the bearing in the outer cover bu where is the bearing on the inside?

i think you don’t know what I’m talking about. The bearing you see on spool might  stuck inside this hole.

if you are not sure what you are doing, I also think it is better to have professional look at it. You don’t want to damage the reel any further.
