Motorguide Tour Pro GPS 82#

Featured Replies

First off if this is in the wrong category, I apologize.

I am deciding on a new troller for my aluminum Triton TX18. I currently have a terrova 55#. It has served me well for 8 years 90% of the time. BUT, 3 replaced foot pedals, anew hand remote almost every year, and a spot lock that is just ok, has me looking at the new motorguide tour pro instead of the Ultrex.

2 main reasons

Its a true cable driven motor. So if the electronics fail I can finish out the very short Wisconsin fishing season with just the cable motor.

I like the idea of NO internal transducer. It gives me the opportunity to switch brands without having to replace the troller. I’m currently an HB rigged boat, but the Garmin line of products seem better to me right now, should I choose to switch in the future. Plus the ease that a true cable drive gives you at rigging external transducers.

I know this motor isn’t really out there yet, but wandered if any tourney guys that may have gotten them early can leave a review. There is virtually nothing online yet. Or any ones thoughts too.

thanks much

The Ultrex is available and has the bugs worked out. Put an external transducer on if you want. It costs the same sort of price as the motorguide if and when it arrives. The motorguide may be a great motor for the reasons you've said, but it's too expensive for what it offers to my mind, plus it hasn't had the kinks worked out yet.
