Oars/orlocks/rowing! Don't laugh.

Featured Replies

My vhull Jon boat has a set of oarlock mountings on it.  All I need is the oarlocks (cheap on Ebay) and some oars for some rowing.  What do I look for in oars for a boat like this.  Mostly I see paddles with the flat area on top so you can insert the paddle in the water and use the palm of your hand to "push" the paddle through the water.

With rowing, do I need to look for a round handle oar?   I have a great spot to do some rowing while I fish and gosh do I need the excersize!!!

First of all you will need oars that at about 2X longer than most paddles and a round handle for hand comfort.  Having oars with already attached oarlocks will save you a lot of effort trying to control them.
