Decking my 12 foot v hull

Featured Replies

I am wanting to deck out my 12 foot v hull aluminum boat. Here is what my plans are:

How do I go about cutting the curve in the front deck? Will a jig saw work? How thick of plywood should I use? Whats the best sealant to use? Where can I find the cheapest carpet? Can I just remove the old paint and spray paint right on or does it need a special primer? Thanks guys!

Run a line down the center of your boat. Then measure at 6" incriments along that line to the edge of the boat. Then transfer these measurments to your wood. Connect the dots and cut.

Unless you're planning to ditch this boat in the near future, I wouldn't suggest getting the cheapest carpet available. As for the plywood, you could get away with 1/2", but I used 5/8".
