I went out to a childhood backwoods pond of mine today here in NY. Besides the horrendous wind on the water I managed to get 2 hours of fishing in and got skunked. Water temps are around 48 degrees but I decided to practice my pitching around some cover. I noticed this "grass" is all around the pond. What type of grass is it? It's very slimy and gets all tangled in my T rig. How would you guys fish this? 

Looks like last year's dead stuff.  Small lake near me is the same.  Any bait that hits bottom comes back covered with the junk.
