Motorguide trolling motor problem. HELP!

Featured Replies

I have a variable speed 24 volt 71lb trolling motor that I like alot but the foot pedal spins the head WAY to freely.  If I am in a pond and have the speed set to about a 1/3 of the max the head will rotate around backwards if I take my foot off of the pedal.  Any you can forget about taking your foot off in the river.  The current will wip it around in no time.

The foot pedal is plastic not the nicer metal ones.  Any idea of how to stop this.  There is no adjustment to tighten this up.  The only way that I know how to fix this is to take the pin out of the pedestal and replace it with a bolt of the same size and tigten the nut up some so that the two pieces of plastic rub on one another and slow the rotation down some.

Anybody else had this problem?  Any suggestions?

i have the exact same problem with mine. i finally called MotorGuide and they sent me an email on how to fix it, give em a call and your email and youll have the email in a few minutes.
