Remodeling older boats

Featured Replies

Looking at some older boats and seeing various parts are faded, cracked, etc.  not major things but various plastic covers, dash board parts, etc.  Is it normally easy and not too expensive to find parts like that for the more popular models like Rangers, Skeeters, Stratos, etc?

Great Lakes Skipper is your friend.

Lots of OEM parts at this place, just keep in mind that you should not buy a $5000 bass boat and then dump $3000 in it to fix up gauges, etc., unless you love working on things like that (like project cars, the fun is in the build)

Also - keep in the back of you mind things that have changed over the years, like wiring, fuses, etc. 10ga wire from front of trolling motor to the back of boat of batteries, yeah that won't cut it no more.

A lot of that kind of stuff can be wrapped in something like a carbon fiber adhesive wrap to freshen things up. Ive done a couple of cracked and faded windshields as well as dash panels etc in it and it looks great! Just another option and cheaper.

Great idea!  I mostly was thinking of the non mechanical stuff.

If you like fixing things, go for it! As stated above, the fun is in the build. Otherwise......it gets expensive, quick !

Im redoing an older bass boat, as we speak.
