best heavier casting reel

Featured Replies

hi everyone i was wondering what the best heavier casting reel was for about 60$. i would be using it for maybe umbrella rigs, bucher tails, and small musky wooden baits. i just want a good warranty, and a worm gear that isnt going to get ruined after a month.

I don’t think you’ll find a $60 reel that will handle heavy baits for any period of time without wearing out. Ask any musky guy and he’ll have a bunch of worn out reels from casting musky baits.

I agree with Scott. For 60 I would look for something like a used Any Garcia round reel.

I'm using an old Shimano Mag Plus BMP350SG to throw big swim baits and I paid twenty dollars for it.

Abu would be the best bet on a heavy reel that would work for what you're doing. 5500 model would be what I would use.
